White-label sites: common questions
A white-label site is your own branded version of EstateSales.org. Here are answers to the questions sellers ask most often.
What is a white-label site?
It's a website that lists only your sales, shows your logo in place of ours, and has no EstateSales.org ads. Shoppers sign up, bid, buy, and check out right on your site, under your brand. EstateSales.org powers everything behind the scenes, so you keep creating and managing sales in your EstateSales.org account exactly as you do today.
How much does it cost?
The white-label site is $25/month, added to your regular EstateSales.org subscription. You can turn it off at any time. If you turn it off, your settings are saved and come back when you turn it on again.
How do I set it up?
Go to My Account → Settings and find the White Label section. Click Learn More (or Manage White Label if you've set it up before) and turn on your white-label site. Then work through the sections on that page:
- Your logo – a PNG, JPG, or WebP up to 2 MB and at least 120 pixels wide. If you don't upload one, your company name is shown instead.
- Your colors – choose three brand colors: one for your header, one for your buttons, and one for accents and highlights. Pages always have a white background.
- Your homepage – where your logo links to, how your sales are laid out, and an optional heading.
- Your social links (optional) – your Facebook and Instagram pages, shown in your site's header and footer and in the emails shoppers get from your site.
- Your web address – where shoppers find your site (see below).
What web address will my site use?
You can choose either:
- An EstateSales.org address, like yourcompany.estatesales.org. This works right away with no setup.
- Your own domain, like www.yourcompany.com. You'll add two DNS records (a TXT record and a CNAME record) at the company where you manage your domain, such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace, or Cloudflare. The settings page shows the exact records to add, and has a Check my DNS records button. Changes usually take effect within an hour, but can take up to 48 hours. Until your domain is connected, your site stays at your EstateSales.org address.
A few tips for your own domain:
- If your domain already has an A or CNAME record with the same name, delete it first.
- Most providers don't allow a CNAME on a bare domain (yourcompany.com without www). Use www.yourcompany.com, and turn on your provider's domain forwarding to send yourcompany.com to it.
- Using Cloudflare? Set the CNAME to DNS only (grey cloud), not proxied.
I'm setting up an online auction. Which "Hosting" option do I choose?
Choose "On EstateSales.org".
When you create an online auction, the Hosting setting asks where the auction will run: On EstateSales.org or On another website. This can be confusing when you have your own white-label site, but EstateSales.org is what powers the bidding, checkout, and invoicing on your white-label site. Choosing On EstateSales.org is what puts the auction, with live bidding, on your white-label site.
Only choose On another website if the auction is actually being run on a different auction platform. In that case shoppers are sent to that other website, and they can't bid on your white-label site.
What do shoppers see?
- Only your sales, with your logo, colors, and links.
- No EstateSales.org ads.
- They create an account, follow your sales, bid, buy, and pay on your site. Their login also works on EstateSales.org.
- Emails about activity on your site (for example, bidding and messages) use your branding.
Will the text on my header be readable if I pick a dark color?
Yes. Text and icons on your header and buttons automatically switch between dark and white, whichever is easier to read on the color you choose. The settings page also warns you if a color would be hard to see against the white page.
I'm a franchise. How does it work for my locations?
The franchise admin sets up one white-label site that lists the sales of all your active locations. Your logo and colors apply to every location. Locations join the site automatically when their EstateSales.org account is part of your franchise, and only the franchise admin can change the settings.
How do I turn my white-label site off?
Go to My Account → Settings, click Manage White Label, and then click Turn off my white-label site. Your settings are saved, so you can turn it back on later.
