AI Listing Assistant: common questions
The AI Listing Assistant helps you get sales and auctions listed faster. Here are answers to the questions sellers ask most often.
What does the AI Listing Assistant do?
- Captions your photos – a short, searchable caption for each photo.
- Writes your sale title and description from your sale details and photos.
- Creates auction lots from your photos – it groups photos into lots and writes each lot's title, description, and category.
- Helps you set up a sale by chat – it asks for your dates, address, and other details one step at a time, and you can type changes in plain English.
It's in beta, so please tell us if something doesn't look right (see below).
Why should I caption my photos?
Buyers search for specific items, like "mid-century dresser" or "Pyrex." Captions help your photos show up in those searches, which brings more visitors to your sale. The photos step shows how many of your photos have captions.
Where do I find it?
- Photos step: use AI tools for this sale to choose Photo captions, Sale title, or Sale description. You can also click Caption with AI in the caption reminder.
- Items step (online auctions): click Create With AI to open the assistant and turn your photos into lots.
Is it included in my plan?
Yes. Every company plan includes 250 AI credits per month at no extra cost. If you need more, you can add an AI plan (see below).
How many credits does it use?
- Each photo caption uses 1 credit.
- Each auction lot uses about 2 credits.
- Sale title and description suggestions also use credits.
Before you start captioning, the photos step shows how many credits the run will use. Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle, and unused credits don't roll over.
What happens if I use more than my monthly credits?
You're never locked out. Credits beyond your plan's allowance are billed at $0.05 each at the end of your billing cycle. If a caption run would go over your remaining credits, the photos step shows a warning with the estimated cost before you start.
Can I get more credits each month?
Yes. You can add an AI plan on the AI Plans page:
- AI Pro – 1,000 credits per month for $35/month.
- AI Power – 3,000 credits per month for $79/month.
AI plans are an add-on to your EstateSales.org plan, not a replacement for it. Your current plan, its features, and its price stay the same, and the AI plan is added to your regular bill. You can switch back to the included credits at any time.
Will it overwrite captions I've already written?
Only if you ask it to. When some photos already have captions, you can choose Fill empty captions (keeps your existing captions and only fills in the empty ones) or Replace all captions.
Can I edit what the AI writes?
Yes. Everything the AI writes can be edited, just like text you typed yourself. Please review captions, titles, and descriptions before you publish.
Can I tell the AI how to write?
Yes. On the photos step, click AI Preferences and enter custom instructions (up to 500 characters), for example a preferred writing style or details to always include.
Do I have to stay on the page while it captions?
No. You can leave the page and captioning keeps going in the background. If you come back while it's still running, the photos step shows its progress.
Does it copy my usual auction settings?
When you set up a new online auction, your buyer's premium and sales tax rate are filled in from your company's last published online auction, if you had them turned on. You can change them for the new sale.
